Mortar Bond Primer (MBP) from Custom Building Products solves the adhesion problem on dense, hard-to-bond surfaces — concrete that's been sealed, power-troweled slabs, terrazzo, and other non-porous substrates where standard thin-set struggles to get mechanical grip. Applied before your setting mortar, MBP creates a bonding bridge that dramatically improves adhesion on surfaces that would otherwise be borderline for direct tile installation.
- Ready-to-use water-based primer — no mixing required; brush, roller, or sprayer application
- Required on: sealed concrete, power-troweled slabs, existing tile where mechanical bonding isn't possible
- Fast-drying — typically ready for mortar application within 1 hour depending on conditions
Pro Tip: Don't confuse priming with making a bad surface good enough — MBP improves adhesion on sound, non-porous surfaces, but it won't fix a slab with hydrostatic pressure, residual adhesive contamination, or active moisture problems. Solve those first. Primer is a performance enhancer, not a problem solver.
