The KERDI-BOARD KIT bundles everything you need to build waterproof walls and niches in a shower or wet area — panels, screws, washers, and sealing band in one box. It's designed for the DIYer or installer who wants to skip the guesswork of buying components separately and just get the right stuff in the right quantities.

KERDI-BOARD is Schluter's lightweight, waterproof building panel. It replaces cement board, drywall, and plywood as a tile substrate in wet areas — and because it's waterproof to the core, you don't need a separate membrane behind it. The panel IS the waterproofing.

What's in the kit

Why KERDI-BOARD instead of cement board?

• Waterproof: Cement board is NOT waterproof — it still needs a membrane behind it. KERDI-BOARD is waterproof without anything behind it.
• Lightweight: A 1/2" KERDI-BOARD panel weighs about 3 lbs vs. 30+ lbs for cement board. Easier to carry, easier to cut, easier to install overhead.
• No special tools: Cut with a utility knife. No cement board scoring/snapping, no dust, no special blades.
• Structural: Attach directly to wood or metal studs. It's load-bearing for tile.

Installation basics

• Screw panels to studs using the included KERDI-BOARD screws + washers (max 12" spacing)
• Seal ALL seams with KERDI-BAND set in thin-set mortar
• Seal inside corners with KERDI-KERECK pre-formed corners
• Tile directly onto panels with Schluter SET, ALL-SET, or FAST-SET mortar
• No vapor barrier needed behind the panels — KERDI-BOARD IS the vapor barrier
