Schluter® KERDI-DRAIN FLANGE KIT ABS 3" OUTLET
The 3" ABS KERDI-DRAIN flange kit — the complete drain body for new shower installations where the drain rough-in is 3" ABS pipe. The larger outlet moves more water, the ABS construction connects directly to ABS pipe with solvent cement, and the fleece-covered bonding flange integrates with KERDI and DITRA waterproofing membranes the same way all KERDI-DRAIN flanges do.
If your plumber roughed in 3" ABS (common in older Canadian construction and some newer builds), this is the drain body that fits. Don't try to adapt a 2" drain to a 3" rough-in — use the right fitting from the start.
What's in the box
- KERDI-DRAIN body — 3" ABS vertical outlet with fleece-covered bonding flange
- Height adjustment collar
- Lateral adjustment ring
- Assembly hardware
Key specs
- Body: ABS plastic with fleece-covered bonding flange
- Outlet: 3" ABS (solvent cement connection)
- Bonding: Fleece embedded in thin-set mortar — same as all KERDI-DRAIN plastic bodies
- Compatible grates: All 4" KERDI-DRAIN grate assemblies (Classic, Contour, Trendline, Tileable)
- 10-year limited warranty
When to use 3" vs. 2"
- Use 3" when your rough-in is 3" pipe, when local code requires 3" drain, or in commercial/high-flow applications
- Use 2" for standard residential bathroom construction — handles typical shower flow without issue and is the more common size
ABS vs. PVC vs. Stainless
- ABS (this product): For ABS pipe rough-ins. Solvent cement, direct connection.
- PVC: For PVC pipe rough-ins. Same flange design, different outlet chemistry.
- Stainless steel: No-hub coupling — works with both ABS and PVC. Better for renovations where pipe material is uncertain.
Pro tips
- Identify your rough-in pipe material before ordering. ABS is black; PVC is white (usually). Using ABS cement on PVC or vice versa creates a weak joint.
- Dry-fit before cementing. Once solvent-cemented, you can't adjust the pipe connection. Use the height collar to fine-tune after the fact.
- Overlap the KERDI membrane at least 2" onto the fleece bonding flange and embed it in thin-set mortar. This overlap is where the waterproofing connection happens — it's not decorative, it's structural.
- The lateral adjustment ring is your friend. After you set the drain in mortar, you have a short window to shift it slightly for perfect centering in your shower tray or mortar bed.
Pairs with: Any 4" KERDI-DRAIN grate assembly (ordered separately), KERDI or DITRA membranes, KERDI-SHOWER pre-sloped trays.
