KERDI-BOARD (2" thick) is the heavy-duty version of Schluter's waterproof building panel. While the 1/2" panel is for wall substrate applications, the 2" panel is for structural builds — shower benches, niches, curbs, partition walls, countertop substrates, and anywhere you need both waterproofing and dimensional thickness.

Same technology as the thinner version: extruded polystyrene foam core, reinforced cementitious coating on both sides, completely waterproof. But at 2" thick, it's rigid enough to build freestanding structures without a frame behind it.

• Custom niches: Cut and assemble recessed shelving directly in the wall
• Shower curbs: Shape custom curbs that match your exact opening width
• Partition walls: Build half-walls, knee walls, and dividers

Why 2" instead of 1/2"?

The 1/2" panel is a wall substrate — it goes on studs and replaces cement board. The 2" panel is a building material — you cut, shape, and assemble it into three-dimensional structures. Think of 1/2" as drywall replacement and 2" as lumber replacement, except it's waterproof and tileable.

Working with it

• Score the cementitious face with a utility knife, then snap the foam core — clean, dust-free cuts
• Shape curves and slopes with a rasp or surform tool
• Bond layers together with KERDI-BAND and thin-set mortar
• Seal all seams and corners with KERDI-BAND
• Tile directly over finished shapes with Schluter SET or ALL-SET mortar
