Schluter® KERDI - Sloped Shower Tray - 38" x 60"
Building a mortar shower bed is a skilled trade — it takes experience to float a correctly sloped mud bed, and a bad slope means standing water, which means mildew and ongoing problems. The KERDI-SHOWER-T tray skips all that. It's a pre-sloped EPS foam base that you set in thin-set mortar and tile directly over. No mud bed. No waiting for it to cure. No getting the slope wrong.
The 38" × 60" tray fits a long, narrow shower — a common footprint for bathroom remodels that follow the 36"–42" wide convention along a wall. KERDI waterproofing is integrated into the tray surface. Set it in mortar, connect the KERDI-DRAIN, seal the perimeter with KERDI-BAND, tile it. That's the entire process.
What you're replacing
The traditional alternative: form a wooden shower pan, float a sloped mortar bed (~3/4" per foot), let it cure (24–48 hours), apply waterproofing, then tile. It works when it's done right, but it requires a skilled eye, takes time, and adds weight. The KERDI-SHOWER-T does the same job with less skill required and a faster path to tile.

What you also need
- KERDI-DRAIN: Order separately — choose your drain body material (ABS, PVC, or stainless) and grate finish. The tray is designed around Schluter's drain system.
- KERDI membrane for walls — complete the waterproof envelope from floor to walls.
- KERDI-BAND for perimeter seams — the floor-to-wall transition must be sealed.
- Schluter SET or ALL-SET mortar to bond the tray to the substrate.
Pro tips
- The tray sits on the subfloor — the substrate needs to be flat and strong enough for the assembly. Check for squeaks and flex before installing.
- Set the KERDI-DRAIN body first at the correct height, then fit the tray around it. Work the height carefully — you can't adjust once the mortar sets.
- The tray can be cut with a utility knife for minor adjustments. For bigger modifications, use a hot wire or fine-tooth saw.
- Overlap KERDI membrane onto the tray's bonding flange at least 2". Embed in mortar — this is your waterproof connection.
- Also available: the KERDI-SHOWER-TT (thin profile, for curbless/zero-threshold showers) if you want a barrier-free design.
Pairs with: KERDI-DRAIN (sold separately), KERDI membrane for walls, KERDI-BAND, Schluter SET or ALL-SET mortar.
