KERDI-BAND 5" is the go-to strip for sealing butt joints between KERDI and DITRA membrane sections, and for smaller detail work where the 10" width would be excessive. It's a section of KERDI membrane on a roll — same material, same waterproofing, just sized for joints and transition seams.

Embed in thin-set over the joint, press flat, ensure full contact, tile over it. The 5" width is a workhorse size for most standard shower butt joints between membrane rolls.

Pro Tip: The most common mistake with KERDI-BAND is not getting full embedment in the thin-set underneath — a bubble or dry spot at a seam is a potential leak point. Use a grout float or margin trowel to press firmly across the full width, especially at edges. For floor-to-wall connections and wider KERDI-BOARD panel joints, step up to the 7-1/4" or 10" version for better coverage.
