The Tileable grate kit is the "where did the drain go?" option. Instead of a visible metal face, you tile directly over a frameless stainless support plate — the drain line completely disappears into the floor tile. Walk into the shower and you'll see a seamless expanse of tile interrupted by nothing. It's as close to invisible as a floor drain gets.

This grate assembly installs onto a KERDI-LINE channel body already set in the floor (sold separately). The support plate accepts any tile thickness — unlike the standard and Style grates that have upper thickness limits, the Tileable version accommodates whatever you're using on the floor. Cut your tile, set it on the plate, grout it in.

When to choose Tileable over other grate styles

Tileable is the right call when the design intent is a completely seamless floor. Large-format tile installations in particular look spectacular with an invisible drain — nothing breaks the continuous surface. It's also a good choice when the shower tile is highly patterned and a visible drain grate would interrupt the layout.

Trade-off: cleaning requires removing the tile piece from the grate plate occasionally to clear debris. It's a simple lift-out, but it's more involved than wiping down a Solid or Square grate. For maintenance-minimal installs, the Solid grate is easier to live with day-to-day.

Pro Tip

When setting the tile on the grate plate, use a small amount of thin-set or silicone — enough to hold the tile in place but not so much that it permanently bonds the tile to the plate. You need to be able to lift the tile out periodically for drain access. A small bead of silicone around the perimeter is the cleanest approach: it holds, but it releases when you need it to.
