What’s in a DITRA-HEAT heated floor kit

• Uncoupling membrane — standard DITRA-HEAT, DUO (a thermal break for cold basements and slabs), or peel-and-stick for the easiest install.
• Heating cable — sized to your heated floor area at 240V. The cable can’t be cut, so we size it to the open floor (not under the vanity, tub or toilet).
• Thermostat — basic, programmable touchscreen, or WiFi smart; each ships with two floor sensors and a built-in GFCI.

Heated floor kit — frequently asked questions

How do I know what size heating cable I need?

Measure the open floor you’ll walk on — not the area under the vanity, tub, or toilet. The builder sizes the cable to that heated area. DITRA-HEAT cable can’t be cut, so it’s always sized to fit the open space.

Do I need special electrical work for a heated floor?

Yes — a DITRA-HEAT system runs on a dedicated GFCI circuit. The thermostat has the GFCI built in, and a licensed electrician should make the connection.

What’s the difference between DITRA-HEAT, DUO and peel-and-stick?

DUO adds a thermal break so heat rises into your floor instead of a cold basement or slab. Peel-and-stick skips the thinset underneath for the fastest install. Standard is the classic thinset-set membrane.

Can I install a heated floor in a bathroom?

Yes for the bathroom floor. Shower waterproofing is a separate Schluter KERDI system.
