Pro Tip: Select Grade floors show imperfections in your subfloor more than character-grade floors do. The clean, consistent surface draws the eye — and if your subfloor has high spots or low spots beyond 3/16" over 10 feet, you'll see and feel them. Budget for proper subfloor prep before installation. A $300 floor prep job protects a $3,000 flooring investment.
