Schluter® DITRA-HEAT Sheet — 3'2-5/8" × 2'7-3/8" (8.4 SF) Fill Piece
- The stud structure of DITRA-HEAT is specifically designed to allow for the easy installation of DITRA-HEAT-E-HK heating cables
- Nominal 1/4" (5.5 mm) thickness minimizes tile assembly thickness and reduces transitions to lower surface coverings
- Self-leveling compounds are not required to encapsulate the cables into the membrane
- Available by the roll or by the sheet to accommodate various room sizes
- Quick and easy to install and few tools are required
Description
Description
Not every heated floor is a perfect rectangle. The DITRA-HEAT sheet is the fill piece that lets you complete your installation cleanly — covering the areas between the main roll runs, filling in corners, or handling an entire small bathroom on its own.
This is full DITRA-HEAT functionality in a single 8.4 SF sheet: uncoupling to protect your tile from subfloor movement, waterproofing, vapor management, and heating cable channels that accept DITRA-HEAT-E-HK cables at standard 3-stud spacing. Same performance as the roll, just a different size.
Specs
- Size: 3'2-5/8" × 2'7-3/8" (8.4 SF)
- Thickness: 1/4" (5.5 mm)
- Cable channels: Accepts DITRA-HEAT-E-HK at 3-stud spacing (~12.7 W/sq ft output)
- Backing: Polypropylene anchoring fleece
When to Use Sheets vs. Roll
- Use sheets for: Small bathrooms (under ~40 SF), filling in the cut-off area after a roll run, powder rooms, heated entry mats
- Use the roll for: Any installation over ~40 SF where buying a roll is more cost-effective per square foot
- Mix sheets and rolls freely — abut them edge-to-edge with aligned stud channels and the heating cable routes through both seamlessly
Installation Notes
- Bond to substrate with Schluter SET (concrete) or ALL-SET (plywood/OSB)
- Butt edges of sheet tightly to adjacent sections — no overlap, just alignment
- The heating cable snaps into stud channels and passes from sheet to sheet without interruption
- Tile over with unmodified thin-set SET or modified ALL-SET/FAST-SET
- In wet areas (heated shower floor), seal membrane seams with KERDI-BAND
Pro Tips
- Great option for a small en-suite or powder room. A typical 5' × 8' bathroom needs about 40 SF — two to three sheets gives you complete coverage without the cost of a full roll.
- Don't forget the floor sensor. Each DITRA-HEAT thermostat requires a floor temperature sensor. The sensor sits in a channel between the studs — route it during cable installation before tiling covers it up.
- Plan your cable before you set the membrane. Use Schluter's online DITRA-HEAT calculator to figure out the right cable size for your area. Then lay out the cable route on paper before cutting any sheets — there's no adjusting once the mortar is down.
Who Should Buy This
Homeowners heating a small bathroom or powder room, contractors needing fill pieces to complete a roll installation, and anyone doing a heated shower floor where DITRA-HEAT sheets cover the shower pan area cleanly.
Complete your system: DITRA-HEAT-E-HK heating cable (size for your sq footage), DITRA-HEAT thermostat (E-R, E-RT, E-WiFi, or E-RS1), Schluter SET or ALL-SET mortar.

How DITRA-HEAT Works in 4 Steps
1. Install the membrane
Bond DITRA-HEAT to your substrate with unmodified thinset. Works over concrete, plywood, or OSB subfloors.
2. Snap in the cable
Run the DITRA-HEAT-E-HK cable between the studs at 3″ spacing. No mesh, no staples, no plywood overlay.
3. Tile right over it
Apply thinset and set tile, stone, or LVT directly on the studs. The membrane stays as your waterproof, uncoupled layer.
4. Set your thermostat
Wire the included floor sensor to any DITRA-HEAT thermostat — basic, touchscreen, or WiFi smart — and you’re heating.
