The KERDI-BOARD-ZFP is a flat plastic backing profile that's used behind the KERDI-BOARD-ZA hardware mounting profile. If you're planning to install grab bars, shower accessories, soap dishes, or shelving hardware directly into your KERDI-BOARD walls, the ZFP provides the solid backing that makes screw fastening secure.
It's adhered behind the surface of the panel at the planned hardware location before tiling — creating a reinforced zone that hardware screws can bite into without cracking or collapsing the foam board behind the KERDI surface.
Pro Tip: Plan hardware locations before installing KERDI-BOARD panels — once the tile is down, adding a ZFP means opening the wall. If you're doing an accessibility renovation or suspect grab bars will be needed in the future, add a ZFP profile in likely locations now even if you don't mount hardware immediately. A half-hour of planning now prevents a full wall demolition later. Also useful for heavy towel bars and multi-function shower fixtures.
